Mobile E-Signatures Ease On-the-Road Signing

June 25, 2013

MONTREAL, QC, June 26, 2013 – Silanis Technology, a leader in enterprise electronic signature solutions with over 600 million documents processed annually, today announced that National Truck Services Group (NTSG), an  insurance agency for transport and trucking companies that also provides insurance, safety, compliance, registration and tax services, will implement Silanis’ e-signing service e-SignLive™.

NTSG will add e-signatures to its safety program, where it is responsible for completing the Department of Transportation trucker safety records on behalf of its customers, the motor carriers. The driver safety files on average have up to 15 documents that require signatures from the driver, the safety manager or other authorities at the trucking company. The documents range from government compliance forms, motor vehicle release, fair credit statement, criminal background check to statements of any known violations.

“The need to guarantee driver safety is paramount for the trucking companies we represent,” said Joe Planeta, owner of National Truck Services Group. “Because most drivers have laptops or a mobile device, it makes sense to be able to send the documents directly to the drivers to electronically sign, regardless of where they’re located in the country,” continued Planeta.

The current manual, paper process to secure signatures on the driver safety documents requires NTSG to email PDF versions of the safety forms to the truck company operator, who prints them for ‘wet ink’ signing when the truck driver is able to come into the office. The completed package is faxed or mailed back to NTSG, which then scans the paper documents into PDF for indexing, storage and archiving. With time-sensitive documents and customers with predominantly remote workforces scattered across the U.S., NTSG realized it needed to add the ability to complete and sign documents from the road to accelerate compliance with all safety regulations.

Of particular benefit to NTSG with the upcoming implementation of click-to-sign e-signatures is the ability to secure multiple signatures at the same time, speeding up processing time and ensuring time-sensitive documents are completed by all required parties before deadline. And to authenticate its signers, NTSG will use challenge and response-type questions. The company anticipates adding 15-20 new transportation carriers per month to this process.

“It’s heartening for us to know National Truck Services Group trusts Silanis to keep the roads of America safe by ensuring that drivers are compliant with safety regulations,” said Tommy Petrogiannis, CEO and co-founder of Silanis Technology. “This is certainly thanks in part to our trusted relationships with insurers across North America and the many regulated transactions we help these organizations complete electronically,” continued Petrogiannis.
