City of Sacramento Launches Digital Government Initiative with eSignLive E-Signatures

December 15, 2016

eSignLive by VASCO helps the City improve operation efficiencies and achieve a fully digital workflow (MONTREAL) – December 15, 2016 – eSignLive™, the e-signature choice for government, today announced the City of Sacramento has incorporated e-signatures into its policy management and e-contracting workflows, with the first phase of e-permitting on the City’s roadmap. As part of the City’s digital government strategy, eSignLive will help optimize operational efficiencies, enhance resource productivity and add transparency. With its plan to take administrative processes digital while ensuring alignment with state and local regulations, the City chose eSignLive e-signatures for its robust evidence and audit trail, as well as scalability of the solution. eSignLive’s deep experience working with government agencies also contributed to its selection. Despite some of the automation tools the City already had in place, documents requiring signatures still defaulted to paper. Collecting signatures from multiple parties, often geographically dispersed, was a labor-intensive process, and could result in missed deadlines and administrative errors. With the integration of e-signatures into its digital workflow, the City has seen a significant improvement in productivity. “The implementation of e-signatures into some of our workflows has enabled us to automate much of the previously manual handoff points,” said City of Sacramento, Assistant City Clerk – Special Projects, Dawn Bullwinkel. “This has not only been a time-saver, but has made the overall process much smoother.” The City has currently implemented e-signatures into the following processes: • Policy Reviews/Updates: Policy reviews and updates are time sensitive and involve multiple signers. With eSignLive’s multisigner capability, the policy can now be deployed to all parties at once, significantly improving turn-around time ensuring deadlines are met. • ADA Ramp Certification Pilot Program: Digitizing the certification process allows inspectors to geographically collect the ramp information and sign the final report on site within minutes, speeding up the rate at which the 1,000 ramps can be inspected, approved and put into use, providing an important service to citizens. • Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC): The FPPC requires full transparency with the City’s G1C ticket distribution and sign-off. As part of the digital workflow, eSignLive helps speed up the signing process and the audit trail provides transparency. Future expansion plans will include accounts payable automation for e-contracting and the first phase of e-permitting for construction. “The responsibility of the City of Sacramento and other local and state governments is to provide tax paying citizens with the most efficient and reliable service possible,” said eSignLive President, Tommy Petrogiannis. “Implementing best in breed digital solutions like eSignLive that increase efficiency and transparency, improve processes and make it easier to access and manage information is a great first step.” Find out more about e-signatures in government in the Mobile E-Signatures for Government whitepaper.
